The Location

Summit Exuma’s location offers a much broader vacation experience than most rental homes on Exuma. Half of your amenities and fun is a 3-minute walk down the hill, and the other half is accessible only 1 mile away in Georgetown. This unlocks a much more diverse vacation because you can move around and change venues easily and quickly. Conversely, most rental homes on Exuma will have you enduring many 20-minute car rides, forcing you to commit to one venue at a time. If the weather changes, your destination closes, or a member of your group bails, it can really kill your day. When your whole vacation is within 5 minutes of the house, your vacation explodes with choices and ensures that nobody in your group has to endure something that they are not in the mood for.

Walking distance to 3 American-style, oceanfront restaurants/bars, 12 Bahamian restaurants/bars, and the best calm water beach on Exuma. Also, Georgetown is only 1 mile away, offering every other amenity, as well as the ever-important boat access to the wonders of Stocking Island/Elizabeth Harbour.

The three hotels at the base of our hill each feature oceanfront bars/restaurants. This is a massive convenience for Summit guests for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. BTW, one spot has great pizza. In contrast, most rental homes on Exuma have no walkable restaurants and usually require long drives down the winding two-lane road.

The lively “Fish Fry” is located a walkable 1/3 mile from Summit Exuma and features 12 Bahamian-owned small bars and restaurants. Shirley’s restaurant is the most popular.

While most pictures of rental homes on Exuma feature super calm ocean water, the reality is that the water is rough 2/3 of the time. That is a big deal when planning your activities during your vacation. Therefore, finding spots with consistently calm water is paramount. On mainland Exuma, there are only a few choices, with the best being Jolly Hall Beach. Jolly Hall Beach is located down the hill and left 300 yards. The ½-mile beach is protected by surrounding islands and shoals from the prevailing winds and waves, and therefore delivers a fantastic swimming experience almost every day. The other choice for good, calm water is the two beach clubs on Stocking Island (Peace and Plenty Beach Club and The Chat n Chill). That, of course, requires you to drive to Georgetown to get on one of the two boat shuttles that service those beach clubs.

  The View

The elevated view of Stocking Island/Elizabeth Harbour from all three floors of Summit Exuma is breathtaking. Most rental homes show a nice slice of othe cean, but very few provide a grand, commanding view of all of the 6-mile-long Elizabeth Harbour. That’s Summit Exuma!
